Dog Training never stops, it continues through out the whole of a dogs life, from a basic sit to a more advanced stop whistle at a distance, a dog that is trained is happy and well balanced mentally, if we give our dog something to think about and set boundaries we find that the emotional response to negative stimuli is much reduced and so therefore the less likely that rehabilitation is needed. Exercising a dogs mind is as important as physical exercise, a dog that is bored can be destructive and disobedient. Under stimulation is the main cause of a lot of negative and unwanted behaviours.
Teaching a dog a new behaviour is very rewarding and can also help build relationships between human and dog, this is as important as teaching the behaviour itself, if you have no bond why would your dog want to work with you? Reward based learning is the most powerful way of training any animal, rewards come in many forms from treats to praise to functional reward in rehabilitation. Long gone are the days of check chains and punishment, We are very glad about this, many dogs who have been handled in this way need rehabilitation as the negative response is too engrained.
When you take on any animal you sign up to being responsible for the whole of that animals life, so training them is one aspect of that responsibility. Dog training is fun and rewarding for both humans and dogs.
Terms & Conditions for dog training group booking.
When you book 8 lessons we understand that holidays, shifts, illness etc, mean that you
may not be able to attend every week, with this in mind we allow the lessons to be taken

After the initial 8 weeks you can book lessons in blocks of 4 (to be taken over a maximum of a 6 week period)
(When we close down for holidays, xmas etc these periods do not count towards your entitlement.)

Overview
Clicker training is a fast growing teaching method that has evolved into thousands of different classes and interests around the world.
To gain access to this powerful method the teacher (clicker trainer) needs to be skilled, very self aware, observant, able to analyse, adjust the teaching to suit that particular dog at that particular time. As they develop their skills their understanding of the process deepens and they are able to transfer the learning to other animals, other fields of interest and have genuinely learned to communicate with another species through skilled use of the clicker.
The true power of clicker training is seeded in allowing the dog to self-teach and in particular through the method of capturing the behaviour. The canine ownership of the learning results in very secure cue association and reliability of quality. The dog truly becomes involved in the learning process, becomes highly motivated and teaches us poor humans a thing or two about learning.

Our Clicker Training
Clicker training workshops are held on the first Weekend of each month (please see our calendar of events).
Each course will incorporate the basics and fundamentals of clicker training, advancing for those who wish to do so.
This will enable handlers to experience the detailed and in depth way of communicating with their dog without the use of harsh methods. All workshops allow for a multitude of experiences, sizes and ages.
Here at PR animal services we strive to educate owners to have a happy and well trained dog through positive dog training and handling, these workshops are fun and include training tricks through the use of shaping, capturing, luring and targeting.
Each session lasts 2 hours and costs just £30.
Free tea/coffee and biscuits are available
If you do not have your own equipment do not worry as we here at PR animal services will lend you what you need but also have a range of equipment to buy if you wish.
N.B All dogs must be vaccinated and an up to date certificate must be presented. This workshop is only available to non aggressive dogs, any vocal dogs may be asked to leave if disrupting other students.

Letting your dog off the lead can be one of the greatest things to come out of basic training, however there are some dogs and owners which struggle when there is no line attached, or a building to secure them.
Being able to let them off means that they can get a greater degree of exercise and enjoyment out of their daily walks.
Weight gain usually occurs because the dog is not receiving good calorie burning exercise, where the heart has to work a little harder to pump the blood around the body.
Allowing your dog off the lead will ensure that this type of exercise can occur.
Our recall workshops are specifically designed for two things.
To give confidence to those owners that are frightened to let their dogs off and secondly to increase the chances of your dog returning when called, and as we all know practice makes perfect.
However, in classes it is nearly impossible to practice for the 'real world', so this is why we have decided to offer this workshop, practising in the safety of our paddock with our highly trained Instructors with other dogs around will undoubtedly help your dog to increase in success whilst off the lead.
These workshops are held down at our paddock in Saltmarshe, near Howden. It has fencing that comprises of post and rail and mesh wire fencing around part of the lower areas. It is a huge amount safer than starting your first recall session in the middle of an open field!
Bookings taken at times to suit.
Cost £10.00 per session or £30 for 4 sessions reducing the cost to £7.50 per session.
N.B
Unfortunately tea and coffee is unable to be provided at this venue so you may want to bring your own flask.
Owners are responsible for their own dogs safety and for bringing equipment suitable for this type of training, long lines are an essential part of this training - lunge lines designed for horses are a cheaper alternative.
Whistle training may also be desired, so a whistle is imperative as sharing is not an option.
